Most AI platforms price in vibes: a “fast generation” costs one token, a “pro generation” costs four, and the relationship to what anything actually costs is a trade secret. We wanted something a finance team could audit, so MediaMint’s unit is fixed: 1 credit = $0.002 of raw inference cost. Every price in the app is the provider’s real cost divided by that number, rounded up. That’s the entire formula.
Why prices scale with the ask
Models don’t bill flat, so neither do we. Image models mostly bill per megapixel — a 2048×2048 render genuinely costs four times a 1024×1024 one. Video bills per second. Speech bills per thousand characters; music per minute. A flat per-click fee has to overcharge small jobs to survive big ones; metering means a draft costs draft money:

- Nano Banana edit — 20 credits
- Kling 2.5 Turbo, 5s draft clip — ~175 credits
- Veo 3.1 with audio, 8s final — ~1,600 credits

The spread is the honest shape of the market: one premium video second really does cost as much as a hundred draft images. Hiding that ratio doesn’t change it — it just moves the surprise to your invoice.
Where credits come from
- Free, daily: every workspace gets 100 credits a day. They reset; there’s nothing to cancel or lose.
- Plans, monthly: Starter, Pro, and Ultimate load your workspace each billing month.
- Top-ups, forever: one-time packs that never expire and stack on top of everything else.
Teams get one more layer: every workspace carries its own balance. A client project can’t quietly drain the studio’s shared pool, spend reports fall out of the ledger per workspace, and you can move credits between workspaces whenever priorities shift.
Spending it well
The pattern that stretches a balance furthest is the same one we teach for video prompting: explore on cheap models, commit on premium ones. Ten Schnell drafts plus one Flux 2 Max final is ~55 credits; ten Max explorations is 350 — same destination, six times the price. The assistant’s Auto mode applies this logic for you, routing drafts and finals to different models based on what you ask for.
